Frank F. Jones I 1872 - 1906
  • Sarah M. Holcomb/Halcomb (m. 1891)
  • Martha Alice Blanton (m. 1894)

Married first Sarah M. Holcomb or Halcomb, March 30, 1891.[1]

Studying the marriage record, it appears the Halcomb Family is from Letcher County, Kentucky as Sarah's birth place is notated as being born in Line Fork. There is no Line Fork in Harlan County. Although, Letcher was created out of Perry and Harlan counties in 1842 and it's very possible that Line Fork was in fact a part of Harlan County early on. However, we note that Frank is from Poor Fork in Harlan County. In reality, Line Fork waterway and Poor Fork waterway, which is actually a fork of the Cumberland River, run parallel to each other with Pine Mountain separating the two and the county line directly on the peak of Pine Mountain. Notice in the Marriage Record portion that Frank and Sarah are married on "top of Pine Mountain". It would very interesting to find the location of the wedding.

Married second Martha Alice Blanton, March 2, 1894

When Frank F. Jones I enlisted in the army during 1893, he claimed his occupation was a teamster. In 1893 a teamster would have been a wagon team driver. In Harlan County, most likely a teamster would be hauling coal or timber. In the 1900 US Census, Frank F. claims his occupation as a "distiller". In 1900 a "distiller" would be a distiller of coal.

Frank F. Jones I, at the age of 23, enlisted at Knoxville, Tennessee into the U.S. Army January 16, 1893. Frank was later discharged at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas on September 9, 1893 with a disability notation as well as a "very good" notation.

According to the US Army, Frank F. Jones I, died November 16, 1906. A death record or certificate has yet to be found as well as no information regarding burial.
